Packing for My Disney Cruise Vacation - Part 1

Guess what! I'm going on vacation! Woohoo! I've felt like a chicken with my head cut off lately trying to prep for this thing, making sure everything at work is tied off, and still managing getting the kids fed and kept alive like mothers are supposed to.

<Sidenote: Disclaimer/Confession: The above picture is not my actual suitcase. My actual suitcase is bursting at the seams with kids swim trunks, pull-ups, and pirate costumes. Yes, you read that right...pirate costumes.>

It was my oldest's idea to go on a Disney Cruise. When I asked the kids last year if they wanted to go to Disney World this year, they said, "No, we want to go on a Disney Cruise to Mexico!"

To which my response was, "Where did you learn about a Disney Cruise to Mexico?"

To which their response was, "EvanTubeHD!"

Darn YouTube. I swear, YouTube is worse than commercials of our days. Instead of 30 seconds of brainwashing kids into thinking they need the latest fake hatching animal du jour, it's a whole 10-minute video of said brainwashing.

But I digress. I am so overwhelmed trying to pack for this thing. I was overly ambitious in thinking I could fit all two of my kids' stuff AND my stuff in one suitcase. HA! That was laughable. Now I'm questioning whether I can fit it all into two big suitcases.

So if you see a short 5'3" Asian girl huffing and puffing in the Seattle-Tacoma airport with two young children in tow, dragging two huge suitcases behind her while carrying her carry on and personal item, and very likely at least one of her kids' carry ons, please do look upon her with sympathy and maybe offer to buy her a drink if you're on her flight.

So anyway, I thought I'd share what I'm packing for the trip! Here are some of the guiding principals I tried to follow:
  1. Pack stuff you can layer. The high is only in the 70s on land, so on the water, it might be kinda chilly.
  2. Look cute yet comfy.
  3. Pack stuff that can double as daytime attire and that you can pull off in the evening.
  4. Don't pack anything you can't play with your kids in.
  5. Pack stuff you can wear your comfy flat sandals with as well as dress up with your wedges because you're likely going to opt for comfort, but you're likely going to want the option of cuteness.
So here's what I've come up with. These are the "kinda on the nicer side" outfits.

*Disclaimer/Confession: I'm not actually bringing that huge bag. Who has space in their luggage for that thing? I actually broke down and ordered one of those round rattan handbags, so the outfits above will be accompanied by something like this:
That's it for now! I'll share my more casual outfits in my next post!
